As such it is a great product and does what it says.
What I liked:
Connectivity:
TV: Connected instantly through HDMI. No issues.
USB Drive: Instant connection. Recognized all the media. Provides various option to play and the menu is user friendly.
LAN/Wired network: Easy connection. Had to restart the router & then the WDTV Live for it to recognize the network connection
Wi-Fi: Not tried yet
Playback:
Pictures: Supported all most common image types like jpeg but not RAW, NEF etc., as mentioned.
Videos: Played the mpeg, avi, dat files easily with no issues. I think these are most common file types. Camcorder recordings played flawlessly.
Remote:
Pretty simple & easy to use
Menu:
Easy to navigate & intuitive.
There is a search box to type using the remote for searching pictures, user names, login & videos.
What should be improved:
Wi-fi Capability: Come on!!! wi-fi should be integrated in the device itself. Why do I need to do the research for compatible USB wi-fi devices, read their reviews, find out which gives good connectivity and then pay extra $30 for it ??? Who uses LAN these days ???
Websites options: Only Youtube & Flickr??? Are you serious?? There must be options to connect to other video & photo sharing websites like Hulu, etc. Rather there must be an option to type the website's name and ability to connect to it.
Search Option: Please give QWERTY keyboard through the remote!!!
