Over the holidays I installed the WD Live TV and it is performing as advertised in our home. It helps to have a home network with all the cabling along with a media server already in place. The device is connected to the widescreen HD TV via HDMA cable and connected to the network via Cat 6 ethernet cable (bring your own cables). The WD automatically detected the media server shares where we store our music, photos, home videos and downloaded movies, and displays them without issue. With "PLayOn" installed on the media server, we are watching movies from Netflix, Hulu, CBS, ESPN, NFL, FoodNetwork and others. (There is a one-time charge for Playon once the trial period expires and Netflix has a monthly fee which we were already paying). So far, picture quality and sound are excellent and there are no pauses, delays, skips or jerky displays. (haven't tried any 1080p or Blu-Ray stuff yet as my router and switch ports are all 10/100 Mbps and will surely need to be upgraded to Gigabit in order to achieve the necessary through-put). The WD on-screen menus are pretty basic but functional. We have to use a PC to access the Netflix website to select the movies we want to watch and place them in the Netflix "Instant queue" in order for the WD to see them. So we just fill up that queue with a bunch of movies to watch over time. Everything else can be accomplished with the remote control. It's all "Great" so far!Get more detail about Western Digital WD TV Live Network-ready HD Media Player WDBAAN0000NBK-NESN.
