
First of all, people have a wide range of use for this sort of gadget, so, just to clarify, my primary use for this item is just plain entertainment.
I had the original WDTV and I gotta say the WDTV Live surpasses the shortcomings of its predecessor, just to name a few: DTS support for stereo output -this was the real reason I replaced the old one-, improved user interface (including video previews), and improved feel using the remote -with the previous version you had to push the buttons really hard for it to act-.
